Pastor's passage from the devotional for Christmas: Jesus was the only baby who was born to die... so that we might live. Even His birth was a sign. For the angels told the shepherd that the sign to them was a baby wrapped in swaddling cloth and lying in a manger.
A manger was a feeding trough and back in those days, a manger was cut out from stone. Jesus was laid in a tomb also cut out from stone! See the similarity? And the swaddling cloths? Reminiscent of Jesus' burial linen!
Thank You Jesus for saying yes even though You knew You were placed here to die!
Pastor spoke too of the significance of baby Jesus being laid in a manger. He was meant to be fed on! God feeds on manna and we feed on Jesus and when we share the same food as God, we have a special bond with God! Feeding comes from partaking in Holy Communion or reading His word. Since we are what we eat, feed on Jesus to be more like Jesus!
